"The Constitution Party of Alaska has had its presidential petition as a Limited Political Party approved by the Alaska Division of Elections. ALASKA CONSTITUTION PARTY ENDORSES STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAVID EASTMAN (DISTRICT 27)

Wasilla, Alaska – Putting principles before politics, the Alaska Constitution Party (AKCP) steps across party lines with its endorsement of State Rep. David Eastman in the 2024 election season. The AKCP motto is “Life + Liberty + Integrity = Prosperity”. David Eastman exemplifies these principles in both is personal and public life.
The Constitution Party holds that all Human Life is sacred. This includes protecting unborn persons, promoting the natural family, acknowledging the biological fact of male and female, and more. David Eastman has consistently shown his commitment to this principle by legislative action.
The Constitution Party believes that the natural right of Liberty pre-exists any form of government and that governments exist to protect rights, they do not create rights. The Constitution of the United States is the Supreme Law of the land. Its job is to limit government, not limit the people whose rights it protects.
David Eastman agrees. “The Constitution will either be our guide in all matters, and the law of the land, or it will not. We do not have the luxury of treating it one day as law, the next day as an historic artifact, and the day after that as merely a heart-warming concept. Laws that undermine our Constitution also undermine the very rights that our Constitution was written to protect. More than that, silence in the face of such laws and regulations often shows a most profound failure to appreciate the stories and sacrifices of our nation’s heroes from 1776 until the present time; men and women who deemed it a better thing to risk death than to pursue personal safety, so that we might one day live free.” He has proven this commitment by his military service and his legislative action.
The Constitution Party is committed to Integrity. “We will hold all our party officers and leaders strictly accountable for their conduct. They will be held to the highest ethical standards in dealing with the public, donors, government officials, and candidates. Corrupt candidates come from corrupt parties. Honest and honorable candidates can only come from a party that insists that all its leaders have the same characteristics.”
David Eastman has that commitment. His military oath states, “I, David Eastman, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”
David Eastman has not wavered from that oath. Several ethics charges filed against him by the Legislative Ethics Committee and others have been dismissed. We find his integrity to remain sound.
Prosperity depends greatly upon Life, Liberty, and Integrity in all aspects of personal, business, and public life. We need to elect more people committed to these principles if we want to restore our economy and maintain a healthy standard of living for all Alaskans.
Independence Day 2024: What Legacy are We leaving for Ourselves and Our Posterity?
On November 19, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln gave one of the most famous speeches in American history following the Battle of Gettysburg during the War Between the States. Whether you are fan of Abraham Lincoln’s political decisions or not, in that moment in time and in that place, he spoke words which are timeless in their sentiments. As I was recently re-reading these great words, the following thoughts came to me regarding the state of America in our day.
237 years ago, the Founding Fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the Proposition that All Mankind are created Equal. They understood that there are certain un-alienable rights which belong to every human being from conception until natural death. Such un-alienable rights may not be transferred from person to another person or entity, without the express permission of those to whom the rights belong, that is We, the People. Among these rights are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The government they created is not intended to either usurp rights or bestow rights. It can only have jurisdiction over that portion of those pre-existing rights which We, the People, allow them to temporarily control. We can take the power of government back at any time, and we can give them other powers at any time, through the process provided for in Article V of the U.S. Constitution, and through the principle of Civil Disobedience. Government, however, cannot lawfully dictate the Rights of the People by its own power—not by unconstitutional legislation, or by executive action, or through regulation and policy, or by judicial opinions. It can neither create rights nor destroy rights. Its one and only job is to protect pre-existing rights.
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” (Preamble to the United States Constitution)
Now we are engaged in a great political war, “testing whether this nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure”.
In the past 237 years, we have met our fellow Americans, as well as the soldiers of many nations, on many battlefields, both domestic and abroad. Today we are meeting those who are opposed to Liberty on the new battlefields of social media, controlled mainstream media, in the courts and on the very streets of America. We have strayed from our principles; indeed, we have been sidetracked by the very prosperity created by those principles. We have so much “free time and abundance” because of that prosperity, we waste ourselves and our resources by focusing on self-gratification and material things more than we value things of the mind and heart. When someone does stand up against tyranny, we berate and belittle these new liberty warriors, those who take off their masks and refuse to obey unlawful and unconstitutional orders from bureaucratic servants. Yet, the very air of liberty we breath was bought and paid for, and is still being bought and paid for by those sacrifices made on not only the traditional battlefields but the modern social battlefields as well.
President Lincoln was speaking only of Gettysburg when he said, “we can not dedicate—we can not consecrate—we can not hallow—this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract.” But I say, we cannot dedicate nor consecrate, nor hallow this land of Liberty, our beautiful America, unless we pay the price the men at Gettysburg paid on both sides of that conflict.
Lincoln went on to say, “The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
Another President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, from political party other than that of President Lincoln had some words of wisdom for us as well. He said, “There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny.” Whether you agree with his political decisions or not, there is truth to be found here.
The cycle of American Liberty has turned again. We are the inheritors of the blessings of Liberty, but we are also the destroyers unless we can stop the insanity. It is for us and no one else, “The buck stops here” as President Harry S. Truman said. It is our generational duty to those who come after. We must be “dedicated to the great task remaining before us, we must resolve that this Republic and those who built it, sustained it, bled for it, will “not have done so in vain”.
Let us all humble ourselves in prayer, then put our shoulders to the wheel. Let us work however, and wherever we may best serve with the God-given talents with which we have each been blessed, in our homes and our communities. Only then will we experience “a new birth of freedom” and that this “government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” So help us, God.
The Gettysburg Address

Alaska Constitution Party Platform on the Sanctity of Life
We believe that Human Life is sacred and that it deserves to be protected and nurtured at all states of life, from conception through natural death.
We believe that healthcare is first, an individual responsibility, and second, a state issue, under Article 10 of the United States Constitution. Power to govern healthcare, including reproductive services, is not granted to the federal government in that document. The Supreme Court agreed in its Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision in June of 2022.

We will work with our state legislators to refine and improve current state laws regarding abortion, with the goal of minimizing and/or eliminating the unwarranted and inhumane practice of terminating the life of an unborn child, in so far as it is humanly possible in a secular and religiously diverse society. We are already making progress in Alaska.
We are also committed to work towards the cessation of funding for abortions by any level of government – local, state, or federal.
The Right to Life precedes the Right to Liberty.
Adam and Eve were first given Life in the Garden of Eden before they were given the Liberty to choose their destiny.
“We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” (Declaration of Independence, 4 July 1776)
The Right to Due Process and Equal Protection Under the Law.
An individual who is genetically distinct from any other human being is created at the moment of conception. The laws of nature and inheritance determine that such an individual is human and only human, and it cannot become anything other than human. Therefore, it becomes naturally subjected to the laws of the nation in which it resides, or the nation in which it’s mother resides.
No State shall “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” (U.S. Constitution, Amendment 14, Section 1)
The Alaska State Constitution Affirms the Right to Life and the Right to Equal Protection Under the Law.
“This constitution is dedicated to the principles that all persons have a natural right to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and the enjoyment of the rewards of their own industry; that all persons are equal and entitled to equal rights, opportunities, and protection under the law; and that all persons have corresponding obligations to the people and to the State. (Alaska State Constitution, Article 1, Section 1).
Alaska State’s laws are very specific about when, where, why, and how abortions may be performed within the State, including but not limited to:
- Must be performed by a state licensed physician;
- Person requesting the abortion must reside within state boundaries for over 30 days before procedure;
- Minors must have either the written approval of parents or a judicial bypass ruling before an abortion can be performed;
- Informed consent must be shown;
- Partial birth procedures are class C felonies unless it is performed in an emergency situation for a specific medically justified reason;
- Medical personnel cannot be forced to participate in an abortion procedure;
- Civil and criminal penalties are provided for violations of these statutes.

Abortions are Declining in Alaska
As of 2023, the population of Alaska is estimated to be 733,046. The number of legal abortions performed is 1,222. That is a rate of .017% and it has been declining since 2019. Compare Alaska’s rate to that of Florida, which is 19.1% and is the highest rate in the United States.

The Alaska Constitution Party opposes Resolution HJR13’s calling for an Article V Convention of the States for the purpose of proposing amendments to the United States Constitution.
We AGREE with lines 7 – 9, that “the drafters of the Constitution of the United States empowered state legislators to be guardians of liberty against future abuses of power by the federal government.”
We also AGREE that it is obvious that elected officials have abused the power entrusted to them by the people they represent.
We DISAGREE with the premise that unlimited terms of service is the cause of such abuse. Abuse of power can occur without regard to time in office.
We AGREE that the framers of the original Constitution provided an Article V convention as a means to amend the Constitution in times of extreme duress in the nation.
We STATE that the framers also provided for a single amendment process, which has been successfully implemented in our nation’s past and we see no reason why a term limit Amendment cannot not be proposed using this less intrusive process.
We STATE that the concept of a limited Article V Convention is a false hope. Many Constitution Party members, including the state chairman of the Alaska Constitution Party, have attended Constitution Convention simulations at the University level or through private organizations in several states over the past two decades. It is obvious that, even when operating under strict Robert’s Rules of Order and convention rules, proposals to open up the convention to any and all amendment considerations, can and will occur.
We are also concerned that, given the current polarization of our beloved constitutional Republic, an Article V Convention at this time will lead to even more civil unrest in our streets no matter which way the pendulum of change may swing. This would be paramount to using the Constitution to violate one of its own basic tenets of good governance, that of insuring “Domestic Tranquility”.
We will continue to oppose an Article V Convention but will also support the right of the state legislatures to call upon Congress to propose single issue amendments which have been successfully used in the past.

One of the greatest tragedies of 21st Century America is its lack of education in regard to American history, literature, political philosophy and religious thought. We are drowning in mega-terabytes of information on a daily basis, yet we seem to be more confused and chaotic in our thinking than ever before. More information does not equate to more education. The type of information presented is more important than the amount of information. One of those missing pieces is the lack of knowledge on how to use logic, reasoning, and debate on issues about which we might disagree. As a people, we are becoming increasingly reactionary rather than taking well-thought-out action towards fixing whatever the problem may be. Our conversations often turn into confrontations, bullying, and violence, with no real solutions achieved. When political decisions are made which are in opposition to the founding principles of the Republic, those which violate the Constitution and the Bill of Rights; when the representatives of the people are only representing themselves or their financial backers, many people feel that there is no way to repair the damage, except through violence. AKCP Achieves National Affiliation
ALASKA CONSTITUTION PARTY ACHIEVES AFFILIATION WITH NATIONAL PARTY
The National Committee of the Constitution Party, after reviewing the application for affiliation submitted by the Alaska Constitution Party, voted unanimously in favor of affiliation. Since that time, Alaska leadership has been busy behind the scenes working to build a new party structure within the State.
The Alaska Constitution Party (AKCP) is expected to hold its first state convention on or about the third Saturday in May, following the National Committee Meeting/Presidential Nominating Convention to be held Wednesday through Saturday, April 24 - 27, 2024 in Salt Lake City, Utah. AKCP does have ballot access for the presidential election in 2024.

Nick Begich Would Have Beat Out Mary Peltola? It's All in the Math . . .
Forget about election fraud, dead people voting, electronic voting, or mail-in balloting, this article from Ballot Access News examines the work of an Ohio State University Law Professor which shows that changing the way votes are counted in a Ranked Choice system, such as Alaska, can actually change the outcome of an election. The Alaska Constitution Party supports the return to Alaska's original election system of One Vote, One Person, At the Polls Voting.

Edward B. Foley, a Professor of Law at The Ohio State University, recently posted on Election Law Blog a proposal for “Total Vote Runoff” (“TVR”), which is like Single Winner RCV, except for the vote transfer methodology. Instead of using only first place (and transferred first place) votes to decide which candidates are eliminated, he proposes calculating each remaining candidate’s “Total Votes” score using Borda count, then eliminating the candidate with the lowest Total Vote score before votes are transferred to each voter’s next choice candidate. This continues until one candidate has a majority of votes.
For example, in a four candidate election with a single winner, if no candidate received a majority of first choice votes, the candidate with the fewest first choice votes would not necessarily be eliminated, as is the case with standard single winner RCV. Instead, a Total Votes score would be calculated for each candidate using the following formula:
(3 x # of first choice votes) + (2 x # of second choice votes) + (1 x # of third choice votes) + (0 x # of fourth choice votes).
Therefore, each voter would be allocating six (3+2+1) Total Vote score points among all four candidates. If a voter did not rank all four candidates, the unused points would be evenly split among the unranked candidates, including fractional points.
The candidate with the lowest Total Votes score would be eliminated, with each affected voter’s vote then transferred to their next choice candidate.
This process would continue with three or two remaining candidates until someone had a majority of votes or had more votes if only two candidates remain.
Mr. Foley argues that there is a greater chance of a single winner candidate having majority support with the TVR methodology than with the standard RCV vote transfer process. He cites evidence from the August 2022 US House election in Alaska that “non-MAGA” Republican candidate Nick Begich was probably more popular with voters than Representative-elect Mary Peltola, but had fewer first choice votes than Sarah Palin, and was therefore eliminated first in the three-way race using the standard RCV vote transfer process.
